Any marketing agency guaranteeing any sort of results just to get a client to sign a contract should be thrown in federal prison. As if this wasn’t appalling enough, other agencies are promoting how awesome and experienced they are, but at the same time, jamming every single client into some cookie-cutter, templated strategy that every single client they have gets, no matter their industry, goals, or size.
But the biggest criminals of them all are agencies that set-it-and-forget-it or adhere to a strict hourly allotment. Meaning, they sell a specific number of hours with their retainer, never go over it, or try to use as little as possible to maximize their profitability, even if the campaigns and strategy are trash, the client’s dollars are being eviserated, and all hell is breaking loose. This leads to an epic con-job of customer service, pretending everything is hunky dory, or the “team is on it”, providing no solution, and praying the client forgets all about it.
Pardon my French, but this way of doing business is a crock of $#!%.
No one can guarantee results, but you know what every single agency can guarantee? A willingness to make their client successful, no matter what. Relentlessly tweaking, optimizing, and testing to find avenues to drive leads, revenue, and growth. Taking care of the client in all aspects should be the number one priority, hours be damned. A good month, or even a happy client, shouldn’t make you feel like you can kick back in the chair and watch the money pour; you should always be looking for ways to improve your strategy and results. And when all hell breaks loose, you put on the armour and go to work, with the tenacity of a honey badger, ripping through platforms, hell-bent on taking care of your client.
Do I sound a little bit crazy?
Sure, but anyone in this industry worth a lick of salt is.
